On this Terrific Tuesday at Hamel Contracting, we celebrate the recent Ribbon Cutting of the new Aquatics Center at Los Alamitos High School, built by Hamel’s amazing Aquatics Construction Team. We are so thankful for the expertise of our super Team, the seasoned leadership of Steve Stehrenberger our VP of Construction, and the highly professional collaborative approach of CJ Knowland, Dir. of Facilities at Los Alamitos School District. Their efforts brought this wonderful Aquatics Center to life for a great group of students. It was very rewarding to see all the happy athletes, families and School Board Members in attendance at the event.
Though, “This was a very challenging aquatics project, it was great to see the quality results our terrific Team was able to make happen,” said Grant Hamel, Hamel Group of Companies Owner and President. And, some of those challenges included the mammoth foundation system, which was engineered with 362 cast concrete piers and a site with very high water tables requiring a de-watering system, just to get the underground work completed. Plus, the schedule had to occur during winter rains, only adding to the Team’s need to skillfully manage water levels during the build. And still, these challenges were all conquered by our terrific Hamel Team.
