Project Description

Hamel Contracting was tasked by the City of El Centro to manage the redevelopment of The Plunge Swimming Pool, a deteriorating swim facility that was forced to shut down, into the future site of the El Centro Aquatic Center.

Hamel Contracting’s vast experience in aquatic construction, lead to the development of a state-of-the-art 3.5-acre Aquatic Center that included an eight-lane competition pool, a 2,039 square foot warm-up pool, a 1,605 square foot kiddie pool, and a 5,335 square foot lazy river. Because of their large amount of resources, Hamel was also able to simultaneously build a 5,107 square foot building containing locker rooms, staff offices, a snack bar, storage, and an event center. The project is expected to complete in late 2019 and will additionally include a 2,045 square foot utility building—housing all the MEP systems, as well as a new parking area and shade structures.
